WATCH: FOX uses quick thinking to avoid showing Michael Thomas getting his pants pulled down

Even with a bit of a delay, live television is always a risky proposition. You never know what’s going to happen, so broadcast teams need to be on the ball.

That was the case during Sunday’s NFC Championship Game, when a seemingly innocent pass to New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas could have gone very wrong.

As you can see in the clip below, the Los Angeles Rams defender is bringing Thomas down, but Thomas’s pants start coming down. That’s when the FOX broadcast crew quickly cuts to an aerial view of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome:

Viewers were spared having to see any more of Thomas’s exposed butt, even if the cutaway was a bit jarring and awkward.

Thomas was all smiles after the play, and if the Saints advance to the Super Bowl, you can bet his teammates will let him hear about his wardrobe malfunction in film review.
