Every now and then, something truly innovative will change the game of football, at least for a brief period of time.

However, sometimes those new innovations fall flat on their faces and don’t end up amounting to anything.

Unfortunately, we have no idea what category Hawaii’s newest innovation fits into, because a delay-of-game penalty stopped it in its tracks. As you can see in the video below, the Rainbow Warriors lined up with two punters during the fourth quarter of Saturday night’s 43-34 victory over Colorado State:

Adding intrigue to the bizarre formation was the fact that both punters were Australian and both can kick with either foot.

Sadly, a delay-of-game penalty stopped the play before we could see what the Rainbow Warriors had planned, but it’ll definitely be interesting to see if they do it again this season.
