WATCH: Louisville pitcher’s ejection in 9th inning is going viral

With two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning of Sunday afternoon’s elimination game between regional host Louisville and Indiana, Cardinals closer Michael McAvene thought he had the final out via strikeout.
However, his two-strike pitch was called a ball, even though it looked like a strike to the pitcher.
As you can see below, in the aftermath of that pitch, the umpire decided to eject McAvene. What was his offense that ended his day? In the video, it seems as if all he says is “that’s horrible” to the umpire:

Maybe McAvene had been chirping at the ump in the previous inning, but even if he was, that sure seems like a poor reason to eject a kid.
Louisville held on for a 9-7 victory, though, and will now advance to take on Illinois State in the finals, needing to win twice to advance to the super regionals.
