By now, you know that UCF QB McKenzie Milton suffered a gruesome knee injury the day after Thanksgiving and could have lost his leg if not for the outstanding, quick work of local doctors and surgeons.

Milton is far from out of the woods yet, though, as he had another surgery on Thursday to try to start repairing the injured knee.

After the surgery, Milton’s mom posted an update to Instagram, saying everything went well:

It appears the surgery restored a full range of motion for Milton, which is a fantastic sign. He’ll still have a long road of rehab and recovery, but this is a great first step.

His UCF teammates will certainly miss him for the Fiesta Bowl against LSU, but it sounds like he’ll be there to support his friends and coaches on New Year’s Day.
