WATCH: Michigan catcher Joe Donovan takes foul ball to very sensitive area

When you’re a catcher, you’re going to take a beating behind the plate. Wild pitches, foul balls, rogue bats — all of those are occupational hazards.

On Wednesday, Michigan catcher Joe Donovan was reminded of that in a big way, taking a very painful foul ball to a sensitive area.

You can see the video (if you dare) of the painful incident below. Fortunately, Donovan was able to eventually laugh it off and remain in the game:

Donovan had a big home run last night, and he showed on Wednesday why catchers are often said to be the toughest guys on the team.

Heading into the fourth inning, Vanderbilt is leading Michigan 4-1 in a winner-takes-all Game 3 at the College World Series in Omaha.
