Saturday’s Alabama-Mississippi State game features the two hottest teams in the SEC West. The Crimson Tide has won six straight, including last week’s 30-16 home victory over LSU. The Bulldogs have won four in a row, capped by their 31-13 win at Missouri on Nov. 5.

Alabama will be trying to keep its national championship and SEC West title hopes alive. Mississippi State will be knocked out of the division race if it loses.

Here is what a few media outlets are saying about the biggest SEC contest of the week:

  1. Talented WR Wilson becoming a factor for Mississippi State. The Associated Press is referring to Mississippi State’s De’Runnya Wilson, who is 2nd in the SEC in receiving touchdowns with eight. Sounds like Wilson is already a factor for the Bulldogs, who are probably hoping for another big game from their talented wideout.
  2. Wilson says Alabama’s Cyrus Jones is the best cornerback he’s faced in the SEC. That’s according to foxsports.com, which points out that the Mississippi State wideout didn’t score in last season’s 25-20 win by the Crimson Tide.
  3. Dak Prescott’s legendary career only lacks an Alabama win. So says the Clarion Ledger, which points out that both the Mississippi State QB and his coach, Dan Mullen, have never beaten the Crimson Tide. They have a chance to change that Saturday afternoon in Starkville.
  4. There are 6 Mississippi State players Alabama fans should be familiar with besides Prescott, that’s according to al.com, which in addition to Wilson, lists five other Bulldogs who could make an impact against the Crimson Tide.
  5. The Bulldogs’ defense is dominating in the fourth quarter. Cdisptach.com reports that Mississippi State has allowed only 12 points all season over the final 15 minutes of regulation. We’ll see how Alabama deals with that impressive fourth quarter defense.
