Who will win the SEC West? ESPN’s FPI projects odds to reach Atlanta through Week 5

The SEC West seems to be a 4-horse race through Week 5 of the 2023 season. Alabama, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and LSU all look to make things interesting as we jump into the bulk of SEC play.
But who’s the frontrunner as of Week 5? Alabama is the obvious candidate, but has had its share of struggles this season, too. The Tide beat Ole Miss, which in turn beat LSU last night in a thriller, 55-49.
Texas A&M is the wild card. The Aggies looked rough against Miami in Week 2, but have since righted the ship and look to be at the very least an SEC West contender. Conner Weigman is out, but Max Johnson has so far looked like a solid replacement.
And still, ESPN’s FPI is leaning with the Tide heavily here. Below you can find the odds to reach Atlanta out of the West, per ESPN’s metric:
- Alabama: 68.6%
- Texas A&M: 15.5%
- LSU: 9.4%
- Ole Miss: 6.3%
- Auburn: .3%
- Arkansas: .1%
- Mississippi State: 0%
