South Carolina fans failed to show up in full force to the team’s spring game two weeks ago, with less than 13,000 attending the end of spring for the Gamecocks. If Georgia head coach Kirby Smart is to be believed, South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp warned the UGA coach that a small crowd could be coming to Athens next weekend.

While on 680 AM Wednesday, Smart claims his SEC East rival called out the Georgia fan base heading into the team’s spring game, according to Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald.

“Muschamp called me and he said we wouldn’t even get 40 (thousand). He’s calling me out. I figure we’ll get that. How about that? He’s calling the Dawg fans out.”

“Let me say this, G-Day, we need everybody out there, you got me? We need everybody out there. Make traffic bad.”

Would an SEC coach really challenge another school’s fans to show up to the team’s spring game, or is Smart attempting to generate interest in his game following the amazing 93,000-plus turnout for the last Georgia spring game?

Either way, we’ll find out if this story helps kick start another fan campaign going and gets the Georgia faithful fired up for some spring football in Athens. UGA’s spring game kicks off April 22 at 2 p.m. ET. The game is set to be televised by the SEC Network.
