MarShawn Lloyd made a major announcement on Tuesday afternoon, but rest easy, Gamecock fans, he’s still planning to come to South Carolina.

South Carolina’s highest-rated commit, a 4-star running back from the Washington, D.C. area, announced on Twitter that, “I will be withdrawing from DeMatha (Catholic) today and doing what I need to do for me to graduate early and move on to the next phase of my life.”

Lloyd also said he commuted every day from Delaware to Maryland and only missed one day of school in the first semester. He said he had straight A’s and kept his word to himself and his football brothers.

Listed at 5-9, 206 pounds, Lloyd is rated the No. 3 running back in Maryland in the 2020 recruiting class, the No. 8 running back prospect in America and the No. 43 player in this class overall, according to 247Sports.

He has a reported 23 offers, including Alabama, Florida and Georgia.

Lloyd is part of a class of 19 commits that’s ranked No. 7 in the SEC and No. 19 in the country.
