Two-sport athletes are increasingly rare to find at the Power 5 level these days, but it is still possible.

Could 5-star South Carolina signee Jordan Burch be the next big-name player to try his hand at multiple sports?

After South Carolina’s basketball team beat Texas A&M on Saturday, coach Frank Martin said Burch might be interested in trying basketball, too (via 247Sports):

“Will (Muschamp) recruited him, not me, but I’ve spent a lot of time watching him play basketball over the last four years,” Martin said after Saturday’s victory over Texas A&M. “He’s a really good player. That option was part of the recruitment and it is on the table for him. I think you guys know me by now, I like football guys. It takes certain human beings to be able to (play both sports) because it’s not easy.”

Burch is the No. 8 overall player in the 2020 class, the No. 2 defensive tackle and the No. 1 overall player from the state of South Carolina, per the 247Sports composite rankings.

At 6-5 and 275 pounds, he could certainly be a force on a basketball court, too.
