If Shane Beamer’s program at South Carolina gets off to a fast start, chances are Jordan Burch will have something to do with it.

The former 5-star defensive lineman is expected to make strides this season after he flashed at times in 2020.

“I can tell he’s going to be a strong guy,” former South Carolina offensive tackle Sadarius Hutcherson said, per The Big Spur. “I’ve told him he has a lot of potential. That’s one dude that the SEC and even the (NFL) has to look for. I have a feeling that dude is going to be a straight baller.”

Hutcherson knows a thing or two about defensive linemen after he started 39 games at South Carolina, including 11 at tackle. He made 36 straight starts to close his career.

Burch appeared in 8 of the 10 games last season. He made 19 tackles, two and a half tackles for loss and one fumble recovery. He made his first tackle for a loss against Tennessee, and drew praise from Will Muschamp after the Florida game.

“I told him once he learns how to live in the weight room and get better every day he’s going to be a problem to deal with. I think with him being young right now and him knowing all of that, that’s what is going to make him a good player. I can’t wait to see what he’s going to do the next two or three years.”
