Bryan Edwards, a former star wide receiver at South Carolina, is moving into SEC country following a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders to the Atlanta Falcons.

Edwards, a 6-foot-3, 212-pounder, was selected by the Raiders in the third round of the 2020 draft. The Las Vegas offense evolved after the Raiders released receiver Henry Ruggs, but the Raiders also had Hunter Renfrow or Darren Waller. Edwards last season caught 34 of 59 targets for 571 yards and 3 touchdowns in 16 games (12 starts).

As NFL.com noted, Edwards and fellow Raider Zay Jones enjoyed relative breakout performances in 2021, with the two finishing third and fourth in receiving yards among all Raiders with a combined total of 81 receptions, over 1,100 yards and four touchdowns. Jones’ performance earned him a new three-year, $24 million deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars, while Edwards’ production inspired the Falcons to pick up the phone to dial new Raiders general manager Dave Ziegler with an offer.

The Falcons are relatively thin at wide receiver, as they drafted Southern Cal receiver Drake London and also return Olamide Zaccheaus, but beyond that, they have the likes of Auden Tate, Damiere Byrd and KhaDarel Hodge.
