College GameDay is heading to South Carolina for Saturday’s SEC clash between the Gamecocks and No. 16 LSU Tigers. For celebrity guest picker, GameDay is turning to one of the most accomplished active coaches in college sports.

Dawn Staley will join Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, Nick Saban, Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit in picking the biggest college football games of the day.

“What’s up, Gamecock fans? I heard you, I saw you on social media asking me to be the guest picker on College GameDay,” Staley said in a recorded message to fans. “Well, guess what? When you speak, people listen. So I wanna thank you for choosing me to be the guest picker on College GameDay.

“I’ll be out there at Gamecock Park at 9 a.m. I need to see you out there, because we’re going to blow this thing out. We’re gonna make sure they know who we are, what we do and make sure our football team feels you. We need this win, come start it all at Gamecock Park, College GameDay. Let’s go. Let’s go, Gamecocks!”

South Carolina women’s basketball head coach since the 2008-09 season, Staley has a record of 440-106 leading the Gamecocks. She has guided South Carolina to 3 NCAA Tournament titles in 2017, 2022 and 2024. Staley is a 7-time SEC Coach of the Year with numerous national Coach of the Year honors from the AP (2020, ’24), Naismith (2020, ’22-24), WBCA (2020, ’22-24) and USBWA (2020, ’22-24).

Shane Beamer’s South Carolina football team is back home after a big win on the road. The Gamecocks were double-digit underdogs in Lexington but delivered a 31-6 thumping of the Wildcats.

Saturday’s game is set for a noon ET kickoff in Williams-Brice Stadium. It will air on ABC.
