Over 18 pounds of food was given to about 300 families at Dakereon Joyner’s first Thanksgiving giveaway earlier this week.

Joyner shared a video on social media of the event on the University of South Carolina campus, as Joyner and volunteers gave out over $7,000 worth of food to people to who drove through to get a Thanksgiving meal.

“Thank you for this opportunity. Thank you for bringing family, friends and loved ones together,” Joyner said at the beginning of his video.

Joyner thanked all of the volunteers who contributed to his inaugural Thanksgiving drive by giving out boxes of food and turkeys.

“From the bottom of my heart, I really appreciate everyone who contributed,” Joyner said. “We made this event the best that we could. It feels great to give back to the community.”

Joyner, a senior all-purpose star for the Gamecocks, has 5 rushing touchdowns so far this season. His best game was during the squads’ 47-31 win over Furman on Sept. 9, when he ran for 42 yards and a TD on 11 carries. Joyner also had 4 receptions for 53 yards in that game.

South Carolina (5-6) hosts No. 24 Clemson this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. on the SEC Network.
