Dan Mullen names top teams of Week 10, including SEC squad
Dan Mullen spotlighted 6 teams for their great performances in Week 10, as the college football season turned its page to November.
The former SEC head coach who once led Florida and Mississippi State included one SEC team in his weekly honor roll, and that was South Carolina, which took down then-No. 10 Texas A&M, 44-20, before a raucous crowd in Columbia. LaNorris Sellers had his official coming-out party as a freshman quarterback, throwing for 244 yards, 2 touchdowns and 0 interceptions, while also terrorizing Texas A&M with his legs, as he rushed for another 106 yards and a TD.
The gritty Gamecocks improved to 5-3 as they head to Nashville in Week 11 to face another gritty team in Vanderbilt. It was South Carolina’s 2nd straight victory in an up-and-down 2024 that saw the Gamecocks win their first 2 games before losing 3 of their next 4. Now they’re on the upswing again as they head toward the final 3rd of their schedule.
Back to Saturday, when South Carolina put up an astounding 530 total yards against the Aggies, who came into Columbia as one of the hottest teams in the country as winners of 7 straight games. When it was all over, the fans at Williams-Brice Stadium rushed the field, and the Gamecocks had their signature moment of 2024.
Mullen rewarded that moment on Tuesday. He also spotlighted SMU, Texas Tech, Houston, Louisville and Minnesota for their Week 10 performances.
