Deebo Samuel’s 2020 debut will have to wait.
The former South Carolina wide receiver has been ruled out for San Francisco’s Week 1 game. Samuel, who suffered a foot injury in June, has not been participating in recent practices. He was officially ruled out for Sunday on Friday’s 49ers injury report.
Samuel is coming off an impressive rookie season in 2019, appearing in 15 regular-season games and 3 postseason games for San Francisco. Samuel logged 67 receptions for 829 yards and 3 touchdowns his first year in the league. In the regular season, he also recorded 14 rushes for 159 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Samuel made Super Bowl history with his 53 rushing yards against the Kansas City Chiefs, the most ever by a wide receiver in The Big Game. Pro Football Focus named Samuel to its 2019 All-Rookie Team.
