Devonni Reed has announced a transfer to South Carolina following his transfer portal move from Central Michigan.

The safety held other offers from Colorado, Texas, Missouri, Mississippi State, Louisville and Wisconsin. He brings a wealth of experience as a graduate transfer who played in 43 games for the Chippewas. Reed was a 247Sports Composite 3-star prospect out of Detroit’s Belleville High School in Michigan.

As a redshirt freshman, Reed returned a fumble for a touchdown in his first active game at Kentucky. He finished the year with 97 total tackles, but CMU finished the season 1-11 as a team.

Reed in the next 3 years played in 13 games in 2019, all 6 in a shortened 2020 season and 12 in 2021. He finished his Chippewa career with 287 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions and 14 passes defended, Central Michigan Life reported. He was a two-time All-Mid-American Conference honoree, including third-team honors in 2020 and second-team honors in 2021.

The Gamecocks have been busy in the transfer portal with additions including Oklahoma transfers Spencer Rattler and Austin Stogner and N.C. State defensive end Terrell Dawkins.
