Report: Redskins release DJ Swearinger after critical remarks of his own coaching staff

Well, that didn’t take long.
The Washington Redskins have released former South Carolina standout DJ Swearinger after his critical comments of his own coaching staff Saturday, according to Grant Paulsen of The Athletic.
Swearinger hammered DC Greg Manusky’s play-calls late in the game, as the Titans came back for the win.
“In that type of situation, you got a backup quarterback, I wouldn’t call man-to-man to make it easy for him,” Swearinger said, via NBC Sports Washington. “He hadn’t practiced all week. So, disguise a zone and let him throw the ball right to us. We didn’t make the plays we needed to, but when it’s crunch time, put us somewhere where we can make a play. Don’t put us in man-to-man where it’s easy for the quarterback. It’s too easy for the quarterback.”
Swearinger went on to call the decision “horrible.”
The former Gamecocks hard-hitter had one year remaining on his contract, but now, he’s looking for a different team.
