Photo: Former Gamecocks QBs Connor Shaw and Dylan Thompson reunited
It doesn’t seem like a game between the San Francisco 49ers and Cleveland Browns would be the breeding ground for an SEC reunion, but that’s exactly what happened at Sunday’s contest.
South Carolina quarterbacks Connor Shaw and Dylan Thompson were two key cogs during the glory years of the Steve Spurrier era at South Carolina.
Neither was drafted by an NFL team once their South Carolina careers were over, but it should be no surprise to Gamecocks fans to see each of them as a member of NFL rosters in 2015.
Shaw, who is on the injured reserve list with a right thumb injury that ended his season, is a member of the Browns.
Thompson, who is active now thanks to a season-ending injury to starting QB Colin Kaepernick, dressed out for the 49ers.
Quarterbacks coach G.A. Mangus mentored both during their time in Columbia, so it is fitting that he is the one that Tweeted out this picture on Sunday afternoon:
What a great picture!! Proud of both of you!#qblife? pic.twitter.com/GiZUEdvZSW
