Elliott Fry’s time in Chicago has come to an end.

The former outstanding South Carolina placekicker was released by the Bears on Sunday, the team announced. He had not appeared in any regular season games for the franchise but did appear in two preseason games, converting one of two field goals during that time.

Before getting a shot in Chicago, Fry was the kicker for Steve Spurrier’s AAF team out of Orlando. During his brief time in the AAF, Fry converted 100 percent of his attempts, going 14 for 14 in eight games.

During his time in Columbia, Fry converted on 75 percent of his kicks in four seasons as the Gamecocks’ kicker. In his four seasons, Fry made 66 of 88 field goal attempts and 161 of his 162 extra point attempts.
