Former South Carolina QB Jake Bentley has knee injury, outlook for rest of season in question

South Alabama quarterback Jake Bentley suffered a torn MCL on Saturday against Troy and will miss this weekend’s game against Appalachian State.
Bentley was injured on the first series of the game after completing all 3 of his pass attempts for 49 yards.
His status beyond Saturday’s game against the Mountaineers remains unclear but team doctors have not yet ruled him out for the season.

The injury spoils what has been an impressive season for the 6th-year senior, who has passed for 2,122 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 5 interception.
Bentley played his first 4 seasons of college football for the Gamecocks, but left after losing his starting job as a senior.
In his first 3 seasons with South Carolina, Bentley passed for 7,385 yards, 54 touchdowns, and 30 interceptions.
He subsequently transferred to Utah for 1 season before heading to South Alabama to take advantage of the NCAA’s COVID-19 eligibility rule.
The Jaguars are 5-4 on the season.
