Former South Carolina K Elliott Fry has been waived by the Jacksonville Jaguars with an injury designation.

A groin injury will sideline Fry, who was in Ryan Santoso to be the Jaguars’ starting placekicker. If Fry clears the waivers list, he’ll revert to Jacksonville’s injured list.

Jaguars coach Doug Pederson mentioned that he liked the competition between Fry and Santoso and told John Shipley of Jaguar Report that he needed to see more from Santoso before naming him the starting. This has led to some speculation that Fry could return to Jacksonville when he gets healthy

Fry was South Carolina’s kicker from 2013-16 and made 66-of-88 field goal attempts in 51 games. His professional career has taken him to eight different NFL games and the Orlando Apollos in the Alliance of American Football.
