Luck may have worked in former South Carolina WR Bruce Ellington’s favor this week.

After being released by the San Francisco 49ers, the ex-Gamecock was claimed by the New York Jets, but was never signed after he failed a physical.

Now, according to the Houston Chronicle, he’s been signed by the Houston Texans, a team that made the 2016 playoffs and will be favored to make the postseason in 2017.

In addition to playing receiver, Ellington is also capable of returning punts and kickoffs, so he could play a factor on special teams for the Texans this fall.

For a team that has three wide receivers — Will Fuller, Braxton Miller and DeAndrew White — currently out with injuries, having a healthy Ellington in camp will be a big boost.
