Graham Neff gave his thoughts about the future of the South Carolina-Clemson rivalry as the college football landscape continues to change.

The Clemson athletics director spoke with the media Tuesday afternoon. He said there has not been a contract to continue the game moving forward, but it is coming soon.

“I don’t believe we’ve struck a contract and quite frankly, we will and we need to,” Neff said. “There’s the paper working aspect of it. But it’s just a non-negotiable that Ray (Tanner) and I talked about. We have and will continue to play that game. Period. However things continue to change.”

Neff also addressed the timing of the game. While it has been played mostly during the final week of the season, he is open to moving it around if it needs to be changed.

“It always could,” Neff said. “I know at various times the rivalry has been played early in the season or to start the season, so I think we both feel that it’s in a good traditional spot at this last week of the season, so we haven’t struck conversations. I would put that as, sure it could. And we have to be responsive to the changing landscape of college athletics.”

South Carolina and Clemson will face off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. The Gamecocks are looking to secure bowl eligibility with a win, while the Tigers are hoping to get revenge from last year’s loss.
