Greg McElroy is impressed with South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer.

McElroy dedicated a segment to Beamer’s progress and South Carolina’s recruiting success on an episode of Always College Football this week. South Carolina recently beat out Ohio State and other top programs for 5-star pass rusher Dylan Stewart.

“Shane Beamer is rolling right now,” McElroy said. “One of the biggest recruiting wins of his tenure came down on Tuesday when they brought in 5-star Dylan Stewart from the Washington D.C. area.”

McElory gave some insight into why Beamer’s approach may be resonating with recruits.

“For those that have kind of sat down and talked with Shane Beamer, there’s something real genuine about his approach,” McElroy said. “I think he’s very honest. I think he’s very transparent. He’s just himself, he feels very relatable. So it’s clear that he’s making an early impact on some of these recruits.

“He’s already done a decent job in the portal but expect more and more recruits to consider South Carolina in the future.”

South Carolina has 15 commits in the class of 2024 so far. Led by Stewart, the group sits at No. 16 nationally per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Beamer is entering Year 3 at the helm at South Carolina. The Gamecocks are coming off of an 8-5 season in 2022, which was their best year since 2017.

South Carolina will face North Carolina in Charlotte in Week 1.
