Saturday marked another big week for SEC quarterbacks with South Carolina signal-caller Spencer Rattler perhaps shining the brightest.
Rattler and the Gamecocks stunned Tennessee with a 63-38 upset victory in Columbia, South Carolina as Rattler completed 30-of-37 passes for 438 yards with 6 touchdowns. Unfortunately, in the same contest, Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker sustained a season-ending torn left ACL.
College football analyst Greg McElroy recently weighed in on Rattler’s performance and sent his well wishes to Hooker.
“Think about what (Spencer Rattler) was all season long… he hasn’t been very good,” McElroy said. “It’s as simple as that… However, if you look at what he did over the course of 4 quarters against Tennessee, he reminded everybody that it’s not for a lack of talent.”
Rattler and the Gamecocks will look to keep things rolling and finish the season out on a high note as they face Missouri at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday at Faurot Field.
