Jake Bentley looks as if he will have a new home once more.

The former South Carolina quarterback, who joined Utah ahead of the 2020 season, has returned to the transfer portal, according to The Athletic’s Max Olson.

Bentley, a former 4-star recruit and the son of then-South Carolina assistant Bobby Bentley, joined the Gamecocks after forgoing his senior year of high school. Originally set to redshirt in 2016, he was elevated to starter after South Carolina started 2-4, winning 3 straight games during a stretch that included an upset of 18th-ranked Tennessee. He then led the team to a 9-4 mark in 2017 and a 7-6 record in 2018.

However, in 2019, he suffered a foot injury during the season opener against North Carolina in Charlotte and required surgery that saw him miss the remainder of the year. He was replaced by true freshman Ryan Hilinski.

Bentley entered the transfer portal at the conclusion of the season and landed at Utah, where he was 77-of-124 for 882 yards while throwing 6 touchdowns and 6 interceptions in 2020. He also ran 34 times for 113 yards and a touchdown.
