South Carolina will hit the practice field for the first time since the spring on Thursday, August, 2 for the start of fall camp in Columbia.

Gamecock Nation should already know what that means for starting quarterback Jake Bentley, he’s taking a break from Twitter. The rising junior did the same thing last year as the South Carolina leader is clearly mature well beyond his years and leaving the potential distraction of social media in his rearview mirror for the upcoming season.

Not only did Bentley declare his intentions to eliminate the potential distraction of social media on Monday, he made a Tim Tebow-like promise that the Gamecocks will outwork every opponent in the coming season. That certainly worked for the Gators back in 2008 and if South Carolina goes on to have a dream season, we’ll know Bentley held himself and his teammates true to his words here.

Is there a more mature quarterback in the SEC than Bentley?
