Jaycee Horn was off to a great start in his rookie season for the Carolina Panthers as the No. 8 overall pick in the NFL Draft last spring already picked off a pass.

But Horn suffered a serious injury on Thursday night against the Houston Texans, and according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, it is a broken foot. His timetable for return is unknown.

Panthers head coach Matt Rhule said after the game “it sounds” like Horn broke “some bones” in his foot, NFL.com reported.

Horn, a cornerback who starred at South Carolina, was the first defensive player selected in the draft, but had to be helped off the field and appeared to favor his right leg. Horn backpedaled on a pass play and went down without contact and then clutched his right leg.
