Shane Beamer’s South Carolina program appears to be closing in on a new commit as Archbishop Rummel linebacker Kolbe Fields just decommitted from Memphis.

Why is that relevant to the Gamecocks?

Well, the Metairie, La., native had been committed to Memphis dating back to July but he recently received a scholarship offer from South Carolina on Dec. 30. Here we are a week later in Fields’ recruitment and he’s just announced his decommitment from the Tigers.

Fields has also been very active retweeting anything and everything South Carolina related following his decision to back off his Memphis pledge.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Louisiana native is rated as a three-star prospect and the No. 60 outside linebacker in the country for the 2021 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

During his final two seasons on the field for Archbishop Rummel, Fields has racked up 163 tackles, two sacks and three interceptions.
