In an attempt to bolster his Florida Atlantic coaching staff, Lane Kiffin is turning to a familiar face with plenty of Southeastern Conference experience.

Former South Carolina defensive line coach Lance Thompson has joined Kiffin’s FAU staff, according to multiple reports. This news was first reported by Jake Elman of the Palm Beach Post. Thompson was not retained by Will Muschamp, who hired former Arkansas defensive line coach John Scott Jr. to coach the Gamecock defensive line.

The Kiffin and Thompson have worked together at several schools, including Alabama and Tennessee. Thompson also has previous experience coaching at with Auburn.

FAU went 5-7 last season, which was Kiffin’s second with the program. The team went 11-3 the previous year and won C-USA in Kiffin’s debut season with FAU.
