LaNorris Sellers was forced to head to the locker room after suffering an injury in the 1st quarter of South Carolina’s Week 2 game against Kentucky.
ABC cameras showed the redshirt freshman quarterback accompanied by team staff members while jogging to the locker room with a slight limp. Norris had been tended to by trainers in the medical tent shortly before that.
“He’s got a bit of a lower-body injury right now,” Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer said in an in-game interview. “They’re gonna go in there and take a look at it and see what he can do. He feels like he can go, they just want to go in there and take a look at it real quick.”
Later, Norris returned to the sideline. Robby Ashford, the former Auburn and Oregon signal-caller, filled in for Norris during his absence.
“We’ve got a lot of confidence in Robby Ashford,” Beamer said. “He’s started games in this conference. I’ve said it all along, we’ve got 2 winning quarterbacks. I love Robby because Robby is a competitor … We’ve got a lot of faith in him.”
Norris was back on the sideline early in the second quarter. He was seen warming up his arm.
