LaNorris Sellers comes in the clutch in a way we have not seen a freshman quarterback do in a long time. And it made all of the difference in South Carolina ultimately coming out with the close win over Clemson in the Palmetto Bowl, recording a 25-yard touchdown run that gave South Carolina the lead.

It was not over there as Clemson made it deep into South Carolina territory and an interception by the Gamecocks sealed the victory, but Sellers’ points on the board made an equal difference. Here’s a look at the play:

Soon after, South Carolina intercepted Clemson QB Cade Klubnik to seal the win, 17-14.

Social media had a lot to say about Sellers’ performance, with many viewing him as a potential Heisman Trophy candidate after this performance:

Accomplishing things on the ground is nothing new for Sellers, who reached similar feats in games like the win over Mizzou.

“I can extend plays. I can throw the ball down the field,” he said. “I can run it. If a play breaks down or something like that, I can get outside of the pocket and make something happen, no matter if it is throwing it or running it.”

South Carolina will look to see what awaits it next in the postseason after riding the high of this win over the Tigers. Do the Gamecocks deserve a College Football Playoff spot?
