Of all the opt-outs that occurred in Columbia following Will Muschamp’s dismissal at South Carolina, Makius Scott was one Gamecock that fans could see returning following the hire of the next head coach.

However, it doesn’t look like that will be happening.

On Friday, the freshman lineman entered the NCAA transfer portal.

As always, it should be noted that a player entering the transfer portal does not guarantee their time at the school is over, it simply is the first step towards a transfer from the program. However, it should also be noted that South Carolina has removed all record of Scott from the team website, so his return to the Gamecocks doesn’t look very promising.

Following Muschamp’s firing, Scott opted out of the season after defensive backs Jaycee Horn, Israel Mukuamu and RJ Roderick all did the same.

Scott signed with South Carolina out of Gainesville, Ga., in the 2020 recruiting cycle. He was rated as a three-star prospect and the No. 62 defensive tackle nationally in the 2020 recruiting cycle.
