South Carolina fans already enjoying their Memorial Day break now have another reason to celebrate as Will Muschamp’s program just landed a massive commitment.

The nation’s No. 6 running back MarShawn Lloyd just announced his commitment to South Carolina. Lloyd is now the highest-ranked running back to commit to Muschamp’s Gamecock program as the 5-foot-9, 206-pound DeMatha Catholic High School product ranks as the No. 28 overall prospect in the 2020 recruiting cycle and the No. 3 prospect from Maryland according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Lloyd committed to South Carolina over offers from Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State and Penn State.

Lloyd’s commitment gives the Gamecocks seven total pledges for the 2020 recruiting cycle and pumps up the class to the No. 17 class nationally, which is fairly high given the fact the vast majority of the team’s ranked ahead of South Carolina have double-digit commitments at this time.
