Matt Rhule was hired at Nebraska on Sunday, and a report from Football Scoop has emerged about how his new staff might come together.

Multiple sources since Rhule’s hiring atop the Nebraska program have told FootballScoop that a pair of top targets have emerged for the Cornhuskers’ offensive staff. Marcus Satterfield, the current offensive coordinator for Shane Beamer’s South Carolina Gamecocks program, is as close to Rhule as anyone and is seen as an addition Rhule would greatly value.

Satterfield worked with Rhule at Temple, Baylor and with the Carolina Panthers before he took the South Carolina job. Satterfield had been under fire from South Carolina fans much of the season for a lackluster performance before the Gamecocks delivered wins over Tennessee and Clemson.

Another option Football Scoop reported is Jake Peetz, an offensive assistant with the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams, who was an offensive assistant at LSU in 2021. Peetz is a Nebraska native who played his high school ball in the state and also graduated from Nebraska.
