Muschamp declares linebacker Skai Moore full-go heading into spring football
South Carolina’s defense will be getting a huge boost this spring as senior linebacker Skai Moore is set to take the field after missing the entire 2016 season after suffering a herniated disk in his neck last offseason.
During the team’s Wednesday morning press conference, Gamecock head coach Will Muschamp declared Moore a ‘full-go’ for the spring and noted his leadership would be invaluable to the team moving forward. The Gamecocks have the youngest roster in the SEC and having a veteran of Moore’s stature will likely pay huge dividends for the team not only this spring but during the summer months leading up to fall camp.

Moore was arguably the SEC’s best returning linebacker, and without a doubt the team’s best player, when his unfortunate injury was announced last spring. Now playing in Muschamp’s defense for the first time, Moore is scheduled to line up at WILL (weakside) linebacker – and will play inside as well, with Bryson Allen-Williams playing SAM (strongside) linebacker and T.J. Brunson lining up at MIKE (middle) linebacker.
Skai Moore will play the WILL, Bryson Allen-Williams the SAM and TJ Brunson at MIKE. .. Depth is an issue there this spring.

Before suffering his injury, Moore registered 110 tackles, two sacks, four interceptions, three forced fumbles, and defended four passes in 2015. Moore had 93 tackles and three interceptions the season prior. For his efforts in 2015, Moore was named Second Team All-SEC. He was also a 2013 Freshman All-American.
