NFL Draft expert Chad Reuter has former South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler among his 11 players who can most help their stock at next week’s Senior Bowl.

The collective attention of the NFL turns to Mobile, Alabama over the next week as the Senior Bowl gets set to take place. Draft hopefuls will look to help their stock and impress in front of NFL personnel. After an up-and-won college career, Rattler has a chance to really shine.

In a piece for NFL.com on Saturday, Reuter ranked the 11 prospects who can help themselves the most at the Senior Bowl. He had Rattler at No. 6 on that list:

Rattler’s football career has been, let’s say, turbulent. After a successful 2020 campaign at Oklahoma, he was benched for future Heisman winner Caleb Williams midway through the 2021 season despite leading the Sooners to five straight wins. During his two years as a starter at South Carolina, he showed the kind of strong arm (over 6,000 passing yards) and mobility (seven rushing scores) that should intrigue scouts, but his inconsistency (20 interceptions) led to mediocre team results (13-12 record). Mobile presents an excellent opportunity to impress scouts and coaches both on and off the field and earn grades worthy of Day 2 consideration.

A 5-star recruit from Arizona, Rattler signed with Oklahoma out of the 2019 class. He sat behind Jalen Hurts as a true freshman and then took over the starting job in 2020. He threw for 3,031 yards and 28 touchdowns that season.

But decision-making became an issue in 2021 and, in the Sooners’ sixth game of the season, Rattler was replaced by Caleb Williams. He threw five interceptions in six starts to begin the year. The flashes were there — Rattler completed 70% of his passes in each of his first five games — but his play was marked by inconsistency.

The same can be said of his South Carolina career. Rattler threw for 3,012 yards and 18 touchdowns in his first season, and he threw for 3,186 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2023. He had 438 yards and six touchdowns in a blowout win over Tennessee in November 2022. This past season, however, he had one touchdown pass and five interceptions in games against ranked opponents.

In a setting like the Senior Bowl, Rattler will look to showcase all the physical tools he has.
