South Carolina offensive line coach Shawn Elliott left the program this offseason to take the head coaching position at Georgia State, leaving Will Muschamp’s staff with an opening.

According to FootballScoop.com, though, the vacancy is close to being filled, as the Gamecocks are reportedly planning to hire former South Carolina assistant Eric Wolford to the position:

According to The State, Wolford served as the running game coordinator and offensive line coach under Steve Spurrier during the 2009 season and has most recently held the offensive line coaching position for the San Francisco 49ers.

John Latina, who had been retired, joined the staff temporarily to coach the Gamecocks’ linemen for the Birmingham Bowl last month.
