South Carolina QB sails potential game-winning pass over head of wide open receiver in the end zone
Ryan Hilinski will have plenty of time to make up for his final throw against Appalachian State but the freshman quarterback has to be sick over his final attempt Saturday night.
If you missed it, the Gamecocks rallied back from a late 20-9 deficit to close within 20-15 and had the ball as the game clock was winding down in the closing minutes of the contest.
On 4th and 15 with six seconds remaining in the game, Appalachian State had a bust in coverage, leaving South Carolina’s best receiver, Bryan Edwards, wide open for what would have been a game-winning touchdown score.
Unfortunately, Hilinski sailed the pass over Edwards’ head and the Gamecocks fell 20-15 in Columbia.

We’ve been fooled again. Bentley was a supposed prodigy he was trash. Hilinski the same thing garbage and alleged prodigy. Not worthy of my time or money on this product.
Dudes a freshman. He had an amazing passes vs no interception record going into the game.
Didn’t matter, we were holding on the play.
Exactly. Just imagine what would have happened if he had caught that and then had it negated by the holding call.
This is game 8 he should be playing at a sophomore level at this point in the season. I don’t see Trevor Lawrence, Jalen Hurts, Tua making those excuses when they were Freshmen they were playing and winning Nattys as a Freshmen. Most high schools now run college level offenses and defenses. Keep making excuses for this dumpster fire.
Apples and oranges, look at the talent difference at the WR position alone. During the 2nd quarter of the game Saturday, we had 2 walk ons, 2 qbs, and what looked like a 300 lb TE for Hilinski. I don’t think Tua or Lawrence could do much with that.
You Cock lovers talked a lot of smack about UT at the beginning of the season! Now look at how pathetic Muschumps team looks, no bowl game and finishing with an 4-8 season. A&M and Clemson will make sure of that! LMFAO
Hey be glad in it…we are who put y’all back on the map. So kindly thank us and be on your way.
As a long time Gamecock fan I have never talked smack about an opponent especially one like the rich history of the vols. Both teams are pretty pathetic right now but somehow we did beat a top 5 team and who did you beat besides our pathetic no bowling this years team? A Kentucky team thats just as bad that we even demolished?
