Shane Beamer on Sunday announced that one of South Carolina’s offensive linemen is done for the year.

Markee Anderson, a true freshman, was one of the Gamecocks’ top offensive line recruits in the 2023 class. Ranked the No. 6 offensive lineman in the country by 247Sports, the 4-star, in-state product could have potentially made an instant impact on the offensive front.

Instead, his season has come to an end, according to Beamer on his weekly teleconference call on Sunday. Anderson will undergo surgery later in the week.

South Carolina fell 24-14 to Georgia on Saturday. The Gamecocks put the Bulldogs on upset alert early after taking a 14-3 lead into halftime, but Georgia outscored them 21-0 in the 2nd half to improve to 3-0 on the season. South Carolina fell to 1-2 on the season.

The Gamecocks host Mississippi State on Sept. 23 for a Week 4 matchup as they look to even their record. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
