Shane Beamer and South Carolina are reaching program heights that hasn’t been seen since Steve Spurrier left Columbia.

South Carolina has defeated top 10 teams in back-to-back weeks. The Gamecocks knocked off rival Clemson 31-30 Saturday afternoon in Death Valley. Spencer Rattler finished 25-of-39 for 360 yards and 2 touchdowns. However, the story of the game was “Beamer Ball.” South Carolina’s special teams were truly magnificent in the win over Clemson.

The Gamecocks sealed the game by forcing a Clemson fumble on a punt return.

After the win over Clemson, Beamer spoke to ABC’s sideline reporter, and he called out none other than Jesse Palmer.

“We’re just getting started,” Beamer said in reaction to beating Clemson. “I feel like we’re in our own College Football Playoff with the way we’ve played the last two weeks.

“And I heard Jesse Palmer on TV last night, and I love Jesse. But he said, ‘Clemson needs a big win to impress the committee.’ Clemson needed to worry about winning the football game, because we had a confident bunch and we had a hell of a football team coming in here.

“And I think the narrative was that we were a feel-good story. We got a good football team, and we showed it.”

The Gamecocks improved to 8-4 on the season and await their bowl destination next Sunday.
