Before the 2021 season is over, South Carolina could have a new all-time scoring leader.

Gamecocks redshirt senior kicker Parker White currently has 356 points over his 5 seasons with the team. That has him only 3 points back of Elliott Fry, who had 359 points during his 4 seasons as South Carolina’s kicker from 2013-16.

The Gamecocks conclude the regular season with a home matchup against Clemson on Saturday, and then they’ll potentially play in a bowl game. So there’s still time for White to break Fry’s record.

South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer is hoping to see that happen, as he told reporters on Sunday that he’s proud of how White has performed since deciding to return for an additional season.

“We got to score some more points and get him that record, for sure,” Beamer said, per David Cloninger of The Post and Courier.

In his 59 games with the Gamecocks, White has 69 field goals and 149 extra points. He is 13-for-14 on field-goal attempts this year, so this will likely end up being his most efficient season. His previous best showing came as a junior in 2019, when he went 18-for-22 on field-goal tries.

South Carolina and Clemson are set to kick off on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
