Shane Beamer has South Carolina football fans hopeful entering Year 3 in Columbia. His Gamecocks ended their 2022 campaign strong, downing a pair of top 10 teams in Tennessee and Clemson before falling in a close one to Notre Dame.

Add South Carolina’s success on the recruiting trail and you can see why some consider the Gamecocks a legitimate threat in the SEC East next season. The Gamecocks boast the No. 17 recruiting class in the country for 2023, according to 247Sports. Beamer’s 2023 class features 10 top-300 recruits and Nyckoles Harbor – The No. 19 player in the nation – as his top signee.

On Tuesday, Beamer detailed South Carolina’s recent momentum both on and off the field, but insisted South Carolina football is focused a higher goal than what it has already achieved.

“I’d say there’s a lot of excitement, a lot of energy in our program and outside our facility as well,” Beamer said on The Hard Count. “It’s a lot of excitement about South Carolina football, that’s a testament to what we’ve done on the field, that’s a testament to what we’ve done in recruiting, the number of players we have returning over this upcoming team in 2023. Our guys are hungry for sure, don’t want them satisfied with just 8 regular season wins, we all have higher goals than that. But we also understand the amount of work it took to go from 2 wins when I arrived to 7 wins to 8 wins. A lot of work went into that.”
