Shane Beamer is never one to hide his emotions, so when South Carolina upset Auburn on Saturday night, 21-17, to clinch a bowl berth, Beamer showed his true feelings.

“Just so happy for these players,” Beamer said on the field to ESPN. “So happy for them. To be bowl eligible after they won 2 games last year, just so happy for them and proud of them. Since the day I got hired, since we came in here, they’ve done absolutely everything we’ve asked them to do, and never flinched.”

South Carolina fell behind 14-0 in the first quarter, but bounced back to outscore Auburn 21-3 down the stretch.

“We talked about this being big boy SEC football,” he said. “And we lined up in the second half and ran the same 2 plays over and over and over and over again. That’s a heck of a team we just beat, but man, I’m so happy for these guys, and happy for our fans. I don’t know what our fans had plans for in December, but we’re going bowling somewhere! I’m so happy for them.”
