South Carolina quarterback Jason Brown made the most of his first FBS start in place of an injured Zeb Noland, going 14-of-24 for 175 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Gamecocks ripped Florida 40-17 at Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday.
The victory put the Gamecocks in position to gain bowl eligibility in Shane Beamer’s first year, needing a win against either Missouri, Auburn, or Clemson down the stretch to reach the 6-victory mark.
How much longer Noland is set to be out of commission, and how much longer Brown will be called upon to lead the South Carolina offense, remains to be seen, and it’s something that Beamer wasn’t going to talk about during his weekly media availability on Sunday.
Beamer on #Gamecocks starting QB: I'm not going to be answering a ton of questions about that position. Obviously, Jason Brown was our player of the game, but we're not there yet. (Goes on to say that Zeb Noland was healthy enough to practice)

The news that Noland was able to practice in the week leading up to the game against the Gators is good news following a minor knee procedure. We’ll see if he’s well enough for Nov. 13’s game against Mizzou or whether Brown gets a 2nd straight start behind center.
