After South Carolina’s 24-14 upset victory at Kentucky last weekend, Gamecocks coach Shame Beamer cranked that Soulja Boy and it became a viral sensation.

It turns out the inspiration for those flashy moves to “Turn My Swag On” came from his kids. Beamer revealed to the SEC Network that his kids gave him some creative input about celebration dances if South Carolina pulled off the upset.

“I was talking with my kids during the week about if we get this opportunity and I did do any kind of dancing…I’m not sure if what I did Saturday night is remotely close to anything that we talked about doing. It was just kind of whatever happened spur of the moment,” Beamer told Alyssa Lang on the SEC Network.

The rapper even re-tweeted the video:

“It’s pretty cool that he recognized our guys and before when I went in the locker room right after the game, the players were already in there. The music was already blaring in there,” Beamer said. “Then we kind of quieted it down and I talked for a little bit. Then we cranked it right back up.”

The Gamecocks never trailed and only allowed 7 points through 3 quarters in the victory. Beamer’s dancing is a passionate example of the culture he aims to set for the Gamecocks.

“I hope when people watch us, they see the genuine joy and care for one other that our players have and play with as well,” Beamer said. “I think that was on full display Saturday night.”
