Shane Beamer was not surprised that South Carolina came out strong against Georgia, and said after the game, “We’ve got a group of fighters.”

Beamer noted how the Gamecocks understood that “a lot of people thought this would be lopsided by halftime but we didn’t. We gave ourselves opportunities to win this game but didn’t get it done. At the same time, we know what we can do as we improve.”

Beamer pointed to “too many mistakes in the second half. Our kids fought their butts off but didn’t play clean football.”

About Juice Wells’ injury, which Beamer reported during the game on CBS was a broken bone in his foot, Beamer said, “We’re going to let him see a specialist this week. Doesn’t think it’s season-ending. We’ll know a lot more on Tuesday.”

Beamer after the loss was pleased with players at multiple positions, including the young wide receivers and defensive lineman TJ Sanders, who Beamer said “is tough to handle for anybody we’re going to play.”

About a lack of turnovers, Beamer said he wants the Gamecocks to do a better job at attacking the ball and pulling it out.
