New South Carolina coach Shane Beamer was many miles away from Columbia on Saturday, but the Gamecocks were still on his mind. As Oklahoma won the Big 12 Championship over Iowa State, Beamer shared a message about his plans for the program he’s at the helm of, and especially now starting on Sunday.

“Gamecock Nation, awesome day here in Dallas,” Beamer said in the selfie video. “Celebrating a Big 12 Championship. Thanks for understanding why it was so important for me to come back and finish this thing with my guys. I cannot wait to get to Columbia tomorrow and get this thing rolling with you guys. Hope to be in Atlanta and expect to be in Atlanta with you guys soon celebrating like we’re doing out here on the field right now. Thank you.”

Beamer finished his job as assistant coach with the Sooners as they wrapped up the regular season. So that meant that he did much of his recruiting some 1,000 miles away. South Carolina only signed seven players to start early signing day under Beamer, and the idea was to keep some flexibility there and leave a lot of room for additions in the later signing day in February.
