One of the more noticeable changes with Shane Beamer’s hire at South Carolina is the addition of more support staff to the Gamecocks’ program.

A former FCS coordinator is now in that group as FootballScoop reported that Nick Coleman, most recently the offensive coordinator at Northeast Mississippi Community College, is joining the Gamecocks’ staff. While Beamer most recently announced that his on-field staff was finalized following the hire of Montario Hardesty as South Carolina’s new running backs coach, the support staff is growing.

Before Northeast Mississippi, Coleman was offensive coordinator at Murray State (Ky.) over the previous two seasons. He also coached at Middle Tennessee State University and Tennessee Tech. At Tennessee Tech, he was new South Carolina offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield’s quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator during the 2017 season.

Coleman has undergraduate and graduate degrees from Middle Tennessee State, where he was a quarterback for the Blue Raiders.

FootballScoop noted the difference between Beamer’s support staff, and that of former coach Will Muschamp.

The addition of Coleman is another symbol of South Carolina’s commitment to enhanced resources for the Gamecocks’ football program. Per a source, after the Gamecocks had just two analysts a year ago, one each on offense and defense, they now with the addition of Coleman have added five total analysts for Beamer’s first staff.
